Here is a little drop of information for you. Malaria, commonly associated with Africa, which is where it is most prevalent, is not contagious. Not in any tradition sense of the word. It cannot be passed on through physical contact, and it is only an airborne contagion when it is in the gut of a flying mosquito.
The only way to contract malaria is from blood to blood. Therefore if you are dumb enough to stick your hand in some strangers blood who happens to have it, yes, you can catch it. If you are even more unintelligent and share a needle with someone who is infected, then once again, yes you can become infected too. And if your mother happened to have it when you were squirming around in her abdomen then yeah, you’re gonna get it too. However the most common way is to be bitten by a mosquito that is a carrier for the disease. More specifically you can only contract it from a female mosquito, as they are the only ones that actually drink blood.
Why do I feel the need to share this? It’s a matter of proving my point. I was informed this week in no uncertain terms that malaria is highly contagious. =.= Pfft.
I rest my case.
