Become the Solution

Recent events have lent fuel to the fires of racism, of hatred and fear. With such sustenance to feed upon, the darkest side of humanity begins to writhe up inside. The side that cries for self-preservation above all, the side that must point fingers and lay blame, the side that is willing to look at someone and judge them based on their appearance, the side that would be willing to hurt someone for nothing more than their differences…

I would beg my fellow humans to take a step back. Do not let that fear take control of the beautiful person I know you are. Continue reading Become the Solution

Doubt thou the stars are fire

Let me tell you a little something about love.

Love isn’t always kind. It doesn’t guarantee happiness. Love defies reason, logic and the constraints of time. Loving someone cannot ensure that they will love you in return… but that doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t just go ahead and love them anyway.

I think that when we love, really truly love; we learn more about ourselves than at any other point. It changes us. It makes us stronger. And if we stop and listen, it teaches us; even amidst the pain and loss. Perhaps especially then.

Love is giving away a portion of yourself; reserving a space inside your soul that will always, and only, fit them. Love is holding on… and letting go. Love is walking past without a glance, though your hands are shaking and your arms ache to hold them.

Love doesn’t mean that you should stay… or go. It is fighting, even when you already know the outcome.

It’s not meant to be defined. Love is inexplicable. It follows no rules. No guidelines. Death cannot end it, and no amount of will can control it.

Embrace it. It is the strongest force within your life and the most worthwhile endeavour that you can pursue.

I will never regret loving you.

Let me not to the marriage of true minds
Admit impediments. Love is not love
Which alters when it alteration finds,
Or bends with the remover to remove:
O no! it is an ever-fixed mark
That looks on tempests and is never shaken;
It is the star to every wandering bark,
Whose worth’s unknown, although his height be taken.
Love’s not Time’s fool, though rosy lips and cheeks
Within his bending sickle’s compass come:
Love alters not with his brief hours and weeks,
But bears it out even to the edge of doom.
If this be error and upon me proved,
I never writ, nor no man ever loved.

– William Shakespeare

Love you Love you, this I say
Without hesitation never truer made
Rife with honesty so removed of rose
A clear sight must expose
Admission of the yearnings felt
Return, Return.
Lest heartstrings melt.

The crazy thing is; you cannot measure it by any conventional means. It has no weight or volume and its strength cannot be measured by time elapsed. It is a foolish thing. A wild thing. And so valuable that once you find it you will never wish to let it go.
